Sunscorched Studios, the team behind RATSHAKER™, has released the first public pre-alpha demo for KEYKRUNCHER™, a first-person psychological horror roguelike set in the same universe. The demo is free on Steam now.

Don't worry, treatment is simple.

All you have to do is:

KRUNCH keys.
Earn Compliance.
Follow instructions.
Don't let IT reach you.

Our simple lesson structure gives you an increasing Compliance target and a limited supply of keyboards. Eating keys earns Compliance and helps keep IT away!

Remember, different keys require different methods of consumption. Some will take more effort. Some are worth more. Some have unique effects that can completely change your keyboard!

If you hit your compliance target, then the blast doors will close. IT can no longer reach you. You are safe, for now.

At this time, the programme advises all participants to...

GAMBLE

Take your shiny tokens out of the jar and insert them into the gumball machine. Simply pull the lever and out come Charms & consumable Keycharms that can completely change the success chance of treatment!

Do not be concerned by the gumball's colour. Simply KRUNCH down and spit out what it holds!

The programme borrowed this innovative approach to treatment from deckbuilding and incremental games without patients needing to use cards. We like to say that Charms and consumables let patients build their ideal treatment environment!

When you are ready, pull the lesson lever.

After a short delay, treatment will usually resume.

The current demo contains the opening treatment tutorial and four escalating lessons, with limited keyboard supplies, multiple key types, a gumball machine, a few Charms, a few Keycharms, some unique keycaps & IT.

Key KRUNCHING currently relies upon the mouse, but full keyboard input is planned in a future update!
